Exam Registration System

The Exam Registration System (ERS) was developed to streamline the process of registering applicants for French exams offered by various countries and institutions. Designed for the University of Buea, the system simplifies registration, payment verification, and administrative oversight. It was built to address the challenges of manual registration and improve operational efficiency for both applicants and administrators.

The Development Process

To help the University of Buea solve their exam registration problems, Zotech Designs created a new online system step by step. First, we worked with the school to understand what they needed. Then, we designed a simple website where students could sign up for exams and upload their payment receipts without needing to go to the office.

Next, we made sure school staff had the tools they needed to easily check student info and keep everything organized. We tested the system to make sure it worked well and was safe to use. Now, both students and staff can enjoy a faster, easier, and more reliable exam registration process.

Zotech Designs’ Role

Our team worked together to make this project a success. We had frontend developers, backend engineers, and design experts who all played important roles in building a smooth and secure exam registration system.

Our Approach

Understanding the Needs
We met with leaders from the University of Buea to fully understand their problems and what they needed the system to do.

Planning the System
We picked strong and reliable tools for the project. The frontend was built with React, and the backend used Laravel (PHP). Data was stored safely in a PostgreSQL database on AWS. We used Docker and GitHub to make deployment easy and efficient.

Designing the Experience
Using Figma, our design team created simple and clear wireframes and interactive layouts. These were improved based on the university’s feedback.

Building the Platform

Frontend: We used Next.js and Tailwind CSS to make sure the platform looked great and worked well on all devices.

Backend: Our backend team used Laravel to handle student registrations, check payment receipts, and keep the data accurate.

Testing and Launching
We ran several rounds of tests using Postman and also invited university staff to try the system. Their feedback helped us fine-tune everything before launching the final version.

Results

1. Delivered a fully functional Minimum Viable Product (MVP) in under two months.

2. Streamlined registration, significantly reducing administrative workload.

3. Improved user satisfaction with a clear, efficient registration and payment process.

4. Enhanced scalability and system reliability, setting a standard for future digital initiatives at the University.
